Fair Housing & Reasonable Accommodations
The Fair Housing & Reasonable Accommodations Unit implements Boston Housing Authority's (BHA) Civil Rights Protection Plan and the Reasonable Accommodation Policy. This unit investigates complaints of discrimination, conducts training for residents and staff and mediates civil rights-related disputes between residents. The Fair Housing and Reasonable Accommodations unit also processes all requests for reasonable accommodations—submitted by persons with disabilities.
The Fair Housing & Reasonable Accommodations policies explain what discrimination is, how BHA investigates it, and the existing procedures to ensure that residents and staff enjoy an environment that is free from discrimination. Discrimination can be based on race or color, ethnicity, ancestry, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender-identity, family status or composition, religion, disability, genetic information, age or status as a veteran of the United States armed forces.
