Fair Housing & Employment

The Fair Housing & Employment Unit  implements Boston Housing Authority's (BHA) anti-discrimination policies, the Civil Rights Protection Plan and the Workplace Harassment Policy. This unit investigates complaints of discrimination, conducts training for residents and staff and mediates civil rights-related disputes between residents.

The Fair Housing & Employment policies explain what discrimination is, how BHA investigates it and the existing procedures to ensure that residents and staff enjoy an environment that is free from discrimination. Discrimination can be based on race or color, ethnicity, ancestry, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, family status or composition, religion, disability or handicap, genetic information, age or status as a veteran of the United States armed forces.

The Fair Housing & Employment Unit processes all requests for reasonable accommodations – special requests needed by people with disabilities.
