Keep Your Home Safe

Resident Health/Asthma Prevention

Many of the tips to maintain a healthy home assist in the prevention of asthma. Boston Housing Authority (BHA) is engaged in a number of initiatives and partnerships to reduce resident asthma and provide healthy homes to residents. BHA also collaborates with the Boston Public Health Commission and Inspectional Services Department on the Breathe Easy at Home program for families with asthma.

Breathe Easy at Home is a program designed to improve access and communication between families of children with asthma, public health agencies and housing agencies within the City of Boston.

Window Guards

BHA is an active partner in the City of Boston’s Kids Can’t Fly program. This program encourages parents of small children to install protective guards on windows to prevent small children from accidentally falling out of windows and being injured. Most apartments in family developments will have window guards but residents who have small children and need to have window guards installed should call BHA’s Work Order Center.
