Faneuil Gardens public housing development received a $226,250 grant awarded by the Boston Planning and Development Agency through the Harvard Flex Fund to overhaul its public spaces this fall and next summer.
The grant will pay for 50 new maple and oak trees and as well as 2000 square feet (4’x500’) of raised planting beds along the streets. The grants will also pay for 1500 feet of new fencing along with bushes placed along it, as well as asphalt walkway repairs.
The grant is the result of a collaboration between the BHA and resident leaders, who worked together to provide a positive vision for the development’s outdoor spaces. The BHA is currently securing the services of a landscape architect to work with the residents and site management to further streamline the design.
