Six BHA Employees Recognized For Efforts to House Homeless Veterans
Six Boston Housing Authority employees were recently recognized by the Boston Homes for the Brave for their efforts to end veteran homelessness in the city of Boston. Barbara Sheerin, Kathlin Curran, Daniel Sweeney, Matt Lincoln, Paul Acampora, and Shara Bubb each received a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of their outstanding efforts.
The BHA employees were part of a group that met with homeless veterans at the City’s “Surge” events, where volunteers meet the homeless veterans at shelters such as the Pine Street Inn to begin the process of helping them find permanent housing. In partnership with the BHA’s VA partners, they were able to screen and brief hundreds of homeless veterans on the spot for participation in the Veterans’ Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) program.
The City of Boston has undertaken a comprehensive initiative to end chronic veteran homelessness across the city, and has housed more than 1,100 veterans since 2014.
We are proud of all of our BHA employees who have participated in this important work, and are happy to celebrate their unprecedented accomplishments.
