We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Ms. Adline Stallings, a longtime BHA resident and Task Force member at BHA’s Mission Main public housing development. Ms. Stallings was an exemplary leader and a trailblazer in the turnaround of Mission Main over the last few decades.

Ms. Stallings was instrumental in the effort to transform and rebuild one of the most troubled housing developments in Boston.

After she moved to Boston from Mississippi and became a BHA resident in 1970, Stallings worked passionately for her neighbors in Mission Main and constantly fought for what she believed was right. She was an outspoken advocate who challenged developers, city officials, BHA, and even mayors to do better for her neighbors at Mission Main. She was a tremendous activist who held her own and fought for the community as a whole.

In 2015, Winn Development, BHA, and Mayor Walsh surprised Ms. Stallings with a park dedication in her name at Mission Main. She was deeply loved and respected by her neighbors, and she was adamant in acknowledging that the work she does and has done, was always for others. Adline Stallings was an extremely loving and selfless person, and will be deeply missed.
