ABOUT THE JOB:
The Housing Manager II can function in one of two capacities: 1, He/she may have overall responsibility for the supervision and operation of one or more family and/or elderly developments totaling between 151 and 500 units. In this capacity, the Manager II supervises and develops a staff of employees and is responsible for the achievement of established objectives through the establishment of a well-functioning staff team. The Housing Manager II is responsible for insuring compliance with all BHA and regulatory agency procedures and policies.  The Manager II may be the second manager at developments with a total of more than 500 units, in which case he/she reports to the Manager I. In this capacity, the Manager II will take direction from the Manager I and shall perform those aspects of the work of the development he/she is assigned. In this capacity, the Manager II shall be responsible for overall management of the development in the event of the Manager I’s absence.

ABOUT THE JOB:
The BHA is furthering our mission to build and support healthy, sustainable communities by embarking on a new effort to spur housing production through publicly backed social investment. In order to support this work, the BHA is bringing on technical assistance as well as new staff to help administer the $110M Housing Accelerator Fund, a project in collaboration with the City of Boston, and develop lending practices and policies for public investment in housing development. The Senior Housing Development Manager will be the first staff person assigned full-time to this work at BHA and will play a leading role in decision making, investment strategies, and overall program development.
 
Reporting to the Administrator or their designee the Senior Housing Development Manager will focus on the origination, processing, and closing of mixed income and affordable multifamily real estate transactions involving public investment. This role will receive investment proposals from public, non-profit, and for-profit organizations, including BHA’s Planning, Construction, and Development Division, and assist in the structuring of multifamily financing. Activities are preparatory to financial commitments and the issuance of funds from the Accelerator Fund or other forms of financing. Depending on the type of investment, underwriting is expected to occur in collaboration with lenders such as MassHousing and private commercial banks.
 
The Senior Housing Development Manager will be responsible for the review and underwriting of multifamily real estate transactions presented for financing to:

  • Increase the availability of rental and homeownership opportunities for individuals and families at a range of income levels by using a variety of financing and subsidy sources; and,
  • Generate revenue for BHA and the Accelerator Fund, which features three components including:
    • Mixed income rental housing projects (privately owned)
    • Mixed income rental housing projects (publicly owned)
    • Mixed income homeownership projects (privately owned)

ABOUT THE JOB: Under the supervision of the Senior Advisor for Youth Programs, the Youth Development Specialist will be responsible for providing case management services for residents aged 14-24 years old at the BHA’s Mildred C. Hailey development in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood to improve their post-secondary education and employment opportunities. With this new role, we are seeking a dynamic self-starter to build relationships with youth and young adults at the site and provide them with individual support that prepares them for the workforce, connects them to employment opportunities, and enrolls them in programs or education opportunities and that help youth and young adults identify and pursue their professional aspirations. The Specialist will be responsible for developing and managing new community and professional partnerships that increase the opportunities available to youth at Mildred C. Hailey, and providing mentoring and case management support that collectively build the self-sufficiency and workforce readiness of youth at the development. The Development Specialist will be responsible for forming positive relationships with youth at the site and recruiting them to utilize the services. The Specialist will be responsible for identifying action items with the young people and consistently and frequently following up with them to ensure they complete these items.
