The Mayor of the City of Boston has declared a heat emergency for June 23rd and June 24th. Air conditioned community rooms and water will be available for expanded hours on site at BHA elderly/disabled sites. Cooling centers will be available from 9 AM to 5 PM at BCYF Community Centers. The Boston Housing Authority Housing Service Center at 56 Chauncy Street will be closed during the heat emergency.
Residents are encouraged to switch on fans or air conditioners, stay at home, and avoid going outdoors if possible. Residents who need to go out are encouraged to bring water and prepare with sun protective gear such as caps and umbrellas.
